SHRM Michiana Scholarships

Michiana Chapter of the Society of 
Human Resource Management's Scholarships
The Scholarship for Sons & Daughters of Chapter Members
and
The Scholarship for Student Chapter Members

 

The Program

The Michiana Chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management has established these two scholarship programs to help finance higher education for the sons and daughters of Chapter Members and for members of the local Student Chapters of SHRM.  These are given without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sex, disability, national origin or any other protected group.


Eligibility

Applicants may be either high school seniors, high school graduates or first-year college undergraduates enrolled or planning to enroll in a full-time course of study at a college or university. Applicants must have a GPA of 3.0 or better and be pursuing a degree or planning to pursue a degree with an emphasis area in HR or an HR-related program (such as business, psychology or labor relations). Active SHRM Student Chapter Members will be given preference.

Scholarship Awards

Each scholarship recepient will be awarded a $1,000 scholarship.  Only one scholarship per program will be awarded annually.
 

Application

Students must complete the application and mail it along with a complete high school or college transcript of grades and letter of reference from an adult appraiser to the address below, postmarked no later than April 1, 2015. Applicants are solely responsible for gathering and submitting all necessary information. All information submitted is confidential and will be reviewed only by the Michiana Chapter of SHRM Scholarship Committee.

Recipient Selection

The scholarship recipients will be selected on the basis of his/her academic achievement, demonstrated leadership, participation in school and community activities, work experience, statement of educational and career goals and recommendation by an adult.  Those applying for the Student Chapter Member scholarship will also have consideration for their involvment in their SHRM student chapter and/or their demonstrated commitment to the HR profession.

Scholarships awarded will be based on the Michiana Chapter of SHRM selection procedures and available funds.
Selection of recipients will be made by the Michiana Chapter of SHRM Scholarship Committee. No member, whose child has applied for the award, will play a part in the selection
.

All applicants will be notified of their status in late April.

Payment of Awards

The scholarship recipients will be selected at the end of April and presented at the May luncheon for the following school year. The recipients will be reimbursed $1,000 upon proof of enrollment.

Obligations

Scholarship recipients must enroll in their educational programs no later than Fall of the year in which their awards are given.

Revision Policy

The general conditions and procedures under which scholarships are made are subject to periodic review by the Michiana Chapter of SHRM, including termination of the program.
